Matthew Spence

Matthew Spence is a scientist from the Australian National University’s Research School of Chemistry and a Co-founder of Replay’s enzyme design company. His research is focussed around understanding the molecular mechanisms of evolution, and how evolution can be used to engineer novel enzymes and proteins for biotechnological, medical and environmental purposes. Outside of his work at the Australian National University, Matthew is an avid environmentalist with a keen interest in sustainability and the role enzymes can play in future sustainable technologies.
